Atomic Habits at Work
Must, Have To, Will & Might
A ready-to-teach B1 grammar lesson on must, have to and can for rules, and will, might and shall for the future, built around the big ideas of the bestselling book Atomic Habits.
Students start with a hands-up poll and talk about good and bad habits at work and college, then watch a free 4-minute BBC Ideas video on how habits work (the habit loop) and five tips to make a new habit stick, before they match six big ideas from the book (the 1% rule, habit stacking, the two-minute rule and more) to real workplace examples. They study must, have to, don't have to, mustn't and can, then will, might and shall, choose the right word in a manager's email about a new 'small habits' plan, and work as habit consultants to fix a workplace problem. They finish by sharing their own habit stack in a mingle, a stand-and-choose mini debate and an exit ticket.
